Numerical Resolution of the Cholesteric Unwinding Transition Problem

چکیده

Some equilibrium configurations of the cholesteric unwinding transition problem are numerically computed using the Landau-de Gennes expression of the liquid cry8tal free energy den81ty The classical TIC and modulated TIC configurations are numerically obtained and the cholesteric finger structure 18 found to be m good agreement with the previous theoretical guesse8. Moreover, we report the existence of new solutions, specifically a880ciated with the local n -n 8ymmetry, and which seem to be experimentally ob8erved.
